FPT UNIVERSITY’S CONTRIBUTION TO LOCAL ARTS THROUGH ANNUAL PERFORMANCES

FPT University has implemented numerous art and cultural projects aimed at spreading, nurturing, and promoting artistic values and Vietnam’s rich cultural heritage within the community. Through these initiatives, the university not only enriches campus life but also contributes meaningfully to the development of local arts and cultural sustainability.

Every year, FPT University organizes more than 100 artistic performances and events — from music and theatre to exhibitions and community art festivals — that are open to the public and connect students with the surrounding communities. These activities preserve Vietnamese cultural heritage and engage the community through creative and inclusive participation. 1. Community Project “Introducing Vietnamese Traditional Musical Instruments to High School students”

Since March 2022, FPT University has implemented the community project “Introducing Vietnamese Traditional Musical Instruments to High School Students,” which has been maintained annually. The project aims to bring traditional music closer to younger generations by organizing school visits, workshops, and live demonstrations that introduce students to Vietnamese folk instruments and cultural heritage.

In 2024, FPT University Ho Chi Minh City Campus recorded the highest number of outreach visits under this project, with 22 sessions; followed by FPT University Can Tho Campus with 17 visits; FPT University Da Nang Campus with 10 visits; FPT University Hanoi Campus with 3 visits.

The project is implemented through various forms such as:

  • Offering free classes on traditional Vietnamese musical instruments (including sáo trúc – bamboo flute, đàn bầu – monochord, đàn tranh – zither, and đàn tỳ bà – pear-shaped lute) for high school students;
  • Organizing seminars and live performances of traditional instruments at both high schools and FPT University campuses;
  • Hosting cultural exchange sessions to help students experience, interact with, and gain deeper understanding of this distinctive art form.

FPT University fully sponsors all musical instruments used during the teaching period and provides facilities at the university’s campus for high school students to visit, learn, and practice traditional instruments. The teaching team consists of lecturers and professional artists from FPT University’s Department of Traditional Musical Instruments, who are highly qualified and deeply dedicated to preserving and teaching Vietnam’s traditional music.
