1. Collaboration with Non-Governmental Organizations through Student Volunteer Programs
- FPT University cooperates with Laiday Refill Rethink Plastic Vietnam ICED
FPT University cooperates with private organizations such as Laiday Refill, specializing in eco-friendly products, Rethink Plastic Vietnam, a youth-led Vietnamese groups promoting plastic waste reduction, and the Institute for Circular Economy Development (ICED).
One notable initiative involved 100 students FPT Education working alongside NGOs such as Laiday Refill, Rethink Plastic Vietnam, and ICED to organize a FPT Clean-Up Day campaign, which aimed to collect plastic and other waste in the Saigon Hi-Tech Park (SHTP) area. This campaign represented a joint effort between the university and both Vietnamese environmental NGOs, as well as environmental science researchers, to collect, analyze, and audit waste in order to trace its origins — addressing the root causes of plastic pollution.

The campaign’s analytical report was then submitted to environmental management authorities, providing a scientific basis for more effective waste management policies. These findings helped local governments and environmental agencies better identify and regulate production facilities that contributed to plastic waste in their communities.

Post-campaign audits conducted by ICED revealed that among the 120 kilograms of plastic waste collected at SHTP, 52.6% originated from single-use plastic packaging. A total of 822 classified image entries were recorded, with 41.8% displaying brand logos, clearly linking the waste to “on-the-go” behaviors such as snacking, quick drinks, and smoking in high-traffic areas. The main culprits were identified as plastic packaging manufacturers.

This represents a meaningful contribution to SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 15 (Life on Land).

This is a regular volunteer activity carried out by students from all five FPT University campuses. The photo shows the humanitarian blood donation campaign titled “Warm Embrace,” which attracted 417 FPT University students to participate in a single morning.

2. Collaboration with Non-Governmental Organizations through Research Programs
FPT University actively collaborates with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in research partnerships to co-develop knowledge, conduct impact assessments, and provide policy recommendations that contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- FPT University Cooperates with IQAir
In line with FPT University’s strategy of collaborating with both international and Vietnamese organizations for shared SDG action, FPT University has also partnered with IQAir, a global environmental technology corporation operating a worldwide air quality data network. Through this partnership, Air Quality Index (AQI) monitoring stations were installed across FPT University’s campuses. The data from these stations appear on the global air quality map at iqair.com, each marked with FPT University’s logo. Thousands of users regularly follow the campus AQI updates via IQAir’s website and app.

Each air quality monitoring point not only provides real-time updates for FPTU’s faculty and students but also benefits local residents and nearby businesses by giving them access to air quality data where they live and work. This dataset contributes valuable information to both national and global climate data systems.
Clearly, this collaboration represents a significant contribution to advancing SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
3. Collaboration with Non-Governmental Organizations in the Development of Educational Resources
FPT University collaborates with Coursera Inc., a global provider of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) from the United States, founded in 2012 by computer science professors from Stanford University. Coursera partners with leading universities and institutions around the world to deliver a high-quality and extremely rich online learning platform.

With the vision of enabling FPT University students to access world-class educational resources, adopt the most flexible and modern self-learning methodologies, pursue lifelong learning, and thereby enhance the English proficiency of Vietnamese students, FPT University signed an agreement with Coursera in 2021 to provide large-scale course packages to all FPT University students. FPT University has integrated the academic content of these courses into the official curriculum across all subjects.
Since then, these Coursera-based courses have accounted for approximately 20% of the total annual academic credits undertaken by FPT University students. Faculty have developed a structured learning pathway to accompany students through self-study, assessment, and quality assurance processes. The successful integration of the Coursera platform, which contains high-quality academic materials presented by renowned professors from top universities worldwide, into its curriculum has helped FPT University continuously receive prestigious education awards.
As of the end of 2024, the entire FPT University system has completed 458.000 courses, totaling 565.160 learning hours on the Coursera platform.
Through these multidimensional collaborations, FPT University demonstrates a strong commitment to implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through partnerships with non-governmental organizations, not only as a participant but also as an active driver of sustainable development. By integrating student volunteer activities, collaborative research, and the co-creation of educational resources, FPT University operationalizes SDG 17 and advances the national and global sustainable development agenda in a measurable and impactful manner.
