FPT UNIVERSITY’S PROJECTS TO RECORD AND PRESERVE INTANGIBLE CULTURAL HERITAGE

National cultural heritage: Vovinam–Việt Võ Đạo

As part of its commitment to safeguarding Vietnam’s intangible cultural heritage, FPT University integrates Vovinam–Việt Võ Đạo, a traditional Vietnamese martial art, into its physical education curriculum. Students not only learn self-defense techniques but also embrace the philosophy of Courage, Humanity, and Harmony.

Vovinam–Việt Võ Đạo was officially recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism under Decision No. 3412QĐ-BVHTTDL issued on November 10, 2023. This recognition affirms the martial art’s profound historical, cultural, and educational value. Through regular training and nationwide competitions, FPT University plays an active role in preserving and promoting this heritage, ensuring that its spirit continues to inspire future generations.

Vovinam Program at FPT University

FPT University is one of the pioneering institutions in Vietnam to integrate Vovinam into its official physical education program. The curriculum is designed around three fundamental pillars: martial power, martial arts techniques, and martial ethics — with martial ethics being the central focus throughout the learning process.

Students are trained not only in technical skills such as forms, sparring, and self-defense, but also in the deeper philosophies of respect for teachers, compassion, and perseverance. This holistic approach fosters both physical strength and moral integrity, allowing students to embody the authentic spirit of Vietnamese martial culture and contribute to the preservation of this national heritage.

Vovinam is a compulsory physical education course that all FPT University students must complete

Promoting the spirit of Vovinam among the youth

The project “Bringing Traditional Musical Instruments and Vovinam to High Schools” is a standout initiative designed to promote Vietnam’s traditional culture in general, and the spirit of Vovinam in particular, among high school students. Through engaging performances and hands-on activities, the project has sown the seeds of appreciation for national culture while inspiring young people to explore and embrace this distinctive martial art.

Local cultural heritage: Tranh Kiếng – Southern Vietnam’s Glass Painting

With the aim of preserving the Southern Vietnamese Glass Painting heritage, a group of students carried out the project “Sắc Nam Thấu Kiếng.” This multimedia art exhibition presents a creative and dedicated approach to promoting this distinctive form of folk art, making it more accessible to the public and raising awareness of its cultural value.
