BRIDGING RESEARCH AND POLICY: FPT UNIVERSITY’S COOPERATION WITH GOVERNMENT DEPARTMENTS

1. Collaboration in Policy Development and Human Resource Training for the Semiconductor Industry.

Alongside contributing to the formulation of national policies, FPT University (FPTU) has been actively promoting partnerships for semiconductor workforce development and student recruitment in this strategic field.

Since the onset of the global AI wave, FPTU has recognized the importance of timely and pioneering engagement in this trend. Together with FPT Corporation, FPTU has participated in government meetings to provide expert input on AI policies and national semiconductor talent development strategies.

In parallel, the university has been pursuing partnerships to establish joint training programs, design curricula for semiconductor education, and announce specialized workforce training packages.

Key initiatives include:

  • Seeking international partners for joint semiconductor training programs;
  • Developing training curricula and launching recruitment for domestic and international cooperative training programs.

In alignment with the government’s strategic direction for high-priority technology industries, FPTU launched its first wave of semiconductor and AI academic programs in the 2024–2025 academic year, successfully enrolling nearly 2,000 students in these emerging fields.

2. Collaboration in AI Research and Sharing Practical Experience in Teaching and Learning

FPT University has taken the lead in embracing the global AI revolution, declaring an “AI-first” approach to teaching and learning. The university shares its research findings and practical experience with government agencies such as the Ministry of Education and Training and the Association of Vietnamese Universities and Colleges, contributing to policy development and academic practice.

At the FPT EduCamp 2024 Scientific Conference, FPTU experts presented on the topic “GenAI’s Profound Impact on Education.” The discussion emphasized that educators and learners must adapt to AI integration in the learning process:

FPT EDUCAMP 2024 discusses teaching and learning in the AI era and introduces the concept of flipped classroom

“Teachers can no longer assign homework in the same way as before, as students now use AI tools rapidly to solve problems—and even if they don’t, their parents will.”

Therefore, before assigning tasks, teachers must test them with AI to determine whether they remain suitable and relevant in the GenAI era. This shift exemplifies the “flipped classroom” approach, which educators must now understand and apply effectively.

Through such research and knowledge-sharing, FPTU provides valuable input for national education policy adaptation in the age of artificial intelligence.

3. Collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City Digital Transformation Center

FPT University has established a comprehensive partnership with the Ho Chi Minh City Digital Transformation Center in the areas of training, communication, and research on digital transformation for city governance.

The signing ceremony between FPT University and the HCMC Digital Transformation Center marked a concrete step toward realizing Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on accelerating national digital transformation and building a citizen-centered digital government.

Through this cooperation, both parties have agreed to jointly implement key initiatives based on three strategic pillars:

  • Enhancing digital competencies for civil servants, public employees, and workers in critical sectors of the city;
  • Strengthening communication and social awareness of the role and  benefits of digital transformation;
  • Promoting technology adoption and developing integrated digital platforms to optimize HCMC’s socio-economic development potential.

As a pioneering higher-education institution in technology and digital transformation, FPT University reaffirms its mission to accompany Ho Chi Minh City in building a digital society—where technology serves people, enhances quality of life, and drives sustainable development.
