The university hosts monthly student debate forums on philosophical, political, and social topics open to students across disciplines and year levels.
Horizon Expanders – Political Science Debate Competition, Summer 2024 (FPTU Ho Chi Minh Campus)

This recurring debate competition attracts strong participation from students who engage in dynamic and intellectually rigorous discussions. Known informally as the “Gen Z Philosophers,” participants deliver sharp arguments and logical reasoning, creating a lively yet grounded philosophical space — very much reflecting the FPT student spirit.

2c. Hosting the International World Universities Debating Championship (WUDC)
In early 2024, nearly 1,000 international students from over 300 teams and 60 countries, representing many of the world’s leading universities, gathered at FPT University Ho Chi Minh City to participate in the World Universities Debating Championship (WUDC).

The competition explored global political, social, economic, and environmental topics, with passionate exchanges between university students from around the world.

As the 55th WUDC, this was the first time the world’s most prestigious and influential university debating championship was hosted in Vietnam — proudly organized by FPT University, Ho Chi Minh City Campus.
3. Establish a safe and respectful environment for dialogue.
All events are conducted in accordance with FPT University’s Code of Conduct and Academic Freedom Charter, ensuring that:
Every voice is heard without discrimination;
Discussions maintain academic rigor and constructive outcomes;
Event organizers and student leaders receive training on responsible dialogue facilitation to uphold openness and respect during all exchanges.
4. Impact

These initiatives contribute directly to Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 16 (Peace, justice and strong institutions), SDG 17 (Partnerships for the goals).
